We are proud to have a small family of amazing bricks and mortar retail stockists across Australia, and we're shining the spotlight on their shops and the faces behind them.
We caught up for a virtual chat with Kim Burbridge who is one half of Burbridge and Burke, a gorgeous concept store with a focus on beautiful quality Australian art and design.
Where is your shop located?
116 Magnus Street, Nelson Bay, New South Wales + online.
How long have you been trading in your local community?
Just under 1 year. We opened mid April 2019 and are about to celebrate our 1st birthday. We had planned on hosting a big first birthday event in store, which we have now obviously had to cancel.
What type of goodies do you sell?
Our range includes homewares, women's accessories, children and baby goods, men's and pet accessories. What ties it all together, is that everything we stock is from independent Australian designers, brands and makers.
We look for thoughtfully created items that are made with love and designed to last and want to support the people making them.
We also stock a range of our jewellery and other pieces, which we create in our on site studio.
What’s the best part of your job?
The creative freedom and ability to support other makers and creatives doing what they love.
What is the funniest or most unusual request you’ve ever had from a customer?
Nothing strange, but we did think it was particularly cute when customers were asking for their pets gifts to be gift wrapped at Christmas.
How can customers support you during this time?
We are still open for business online. The two of us (Kim and Claire) here behind Burbridge and Burke are personally packing all orders, with a whole lot of love and clean hands. For all of our local customers we are also offering FREE local, contactless delivery.
