We caught up for a virtual chat with Jen who runs The Boundary Gate, Cloncurry's newest concept store which is so new, it hasn't opened it's doors yet!
Where is your shop located?
Cloncurry, North-Western Queensland AKA the middle of nowhere.
What inspired you to open your shop?
The Boundary Gate was inspired by and created for the big hearts of the Cloncurry community. It came out of my desire to provide our town with a place to relax, unwind and escape the harsh landscape in a world of little luxuries.
A long way from the city, out in the country surrounded by the vast Australian landscape, when you reach the Boundary Gate, I want you to feel like you've arrived home.
Tell us the story of the Boundary Gate?
We love a good story. There's something about a good story that makes you feel like you're fireside with a few mates, sipping a chilled glass of sav blanc and staring up at that big, starry sky.
I love hearing the stories of the brands we stock, what makes the founders and makers tick and why they do what they do. We want to share their stories so you can understand and connect with the classic pieces you buy here.
How long have you been trading in your local community?
We were just about to open the shop and decided to postpone and just open online so we can do our bit to #flattenthecurve.
What type of goodies do you sell?
Gifts, homewares, clothing, accessories - apparently we’re a concept store!
What’s the best part of your job?
I LOVE choosing packing customer orders up, seeing what they choose and making it look lovely for them.
